In business for over 25 years, our client is the benchmark and a leader in the field of heavy trucks in Quebec.  As the largest network of heavy truck dealers in Quebec, the company’s growth is premised on providing a range of turnkey and high-quality services. Its offerings cover the gambit from new and used vehicle sales to repairs, maintenance, roadside assistance, bodywork and financing solutions. All these facets are designed to benefit their client base, which consists of entities operating in sectors ranging from public administration, transport, selective collection, to snow removal and mining, just to name a few.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fully committed to continuous improvement, the company is presently in the midst of an organizational transformation and modernization of its operational practices, and to this end, is seeking applicants for a new VP, Operations position for all its dealerships across Quebec. The incumbent shall have an excellent medium- and long-term strategic vision, and will be mainly responsible for improving corporate performance and meeting the company’s financial goals. As a member of the executive, he/she will participate in drawing up the strategic and business plans for operations. He/she shall:

  • Analyze and determine potential improvements needed to align his/her branch strategy to the global change management strategy
  • Assess the organizational situation and develop problem resolution strategies
  • Measure team performance to direct strategic actions for implementation through a concrete plan, which he/she will continually monitor
  • Provide the required resources and actions to meet objectives
  • Define and communicate strategic management targets for all dealership operations
  • Develop communication strategies based on the company’s values and in keeping with its general vision
  • Contribute to supporting the organization’s strategic orientations
  • Ensure that operations are performed effectively in a multi-site context
  • Implement a continuous improvement approach for service provided to clients
  • Ensure sound and rigorous management of human, material and financial resources
  • Manage operating budgets through rigorous monitoring to identify and analyze gaps
  • Measure operational productivity, quality and costs by establishing a dashboard
  • Tackle business challenges by proposing and recommending solutions, along with their cost/benefits in order to measure returns on investments
  • Participate actively in continuous improvement of operations
  • Mobilize resources in the context of a healthy working environment in a bid to increase their engagement, retention and development

REQUIREMENTS

Our client is seeking a visionary with highly developed critical thinking skills and a strong business acumen to join its team. The incumbent shall be a politically savvy and motivating leader capable of performing well under pressure. The ideal candidate shall be highly structured and:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration or the equivalent
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management
  • Have solid experience developing winning business strategies in accordance with the established corporate vision and management model
  • Good with numbers and have a demonstrated expertise in financial analysis and securing results
  • Versatile and highly capable of adjusting strategies to match specific situations
  • Be able to distinguish him/herself using innovative ideas in relation to business intelligence and good practices
  • Have a strong client/employee experience focus and a great ability to integrate this into his/her business strategy
  • A skilled communicator with a strong capacity for analysis and synthesis
  • Be highly skilled in debating his/her ideas and influencing business decisions, in accordance with the company’s vision and values
  • Be able to demonstrate managerial courage in his/her actions and to mobilize resources
  • Be fluent in English and French (spoken and written)

ASSETS

  • MBA holder
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Continuous improvement (Six Sigma, Lean, Agile Method, Kaban) experience
  • Experience in acquisitions (M&A) and construction of new sites
