SHOP FOREMAN

In business for over 25 years, our client is a leading Quebec-based company and a leader in the heavy truck industry. It is positioned as the largest dealership network in Quebec, offering the sale of new and used vehicles, repairs and maintenance, as well as roadside assistance, bodywork, and financing solutions.
Currently undergoing a strategic transformation to support its rapid growth, our client is looking to recruit a Shop Foreman for the evening shift at their branch in Montreal-East. The individual in this role will provide leadership to the team and ensure adherence to procedures and processes in the day-to-day operations of the branch. The chosen candidate will positively influence their team to meet the standards set by the organisation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the dealership manager, the Shop Foreman is responsible for managing the workshop. They must ensure that repairs performed by certified mechanics follow company and manufacturer procedures and policies. This role will provide positive leadership to mobilize and motivate the team. The main responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Assign requests to the appropriate technicians based on task type and expertise
- Maintain high-quality repair service and minimize workshop returns. Conduct periodic checks on completed work to ensure rigor and quality
- Monitor the progress of each repair throughout the shift and ensure adherence to average time standards
- Assist in handling customer complaints in collaboration with the supervisor
- Monitor workshop conditions, including cleanliness, safety, and equipment status, in collaboration with the controller
- Ensure daily communication with the evening shift foreman
- Understand warranty terms and manufacturer policies, ensure compliance, and ensure the team follows these protocols
- Manage a team of approximately 15 technicians
- Handle disciplinary matters with the assistance of the dealership manager
- Ensure that safety procedures and manufacturer rules are understood and followed by the technicians under their responsibility
- Act as a central point of contact (technicians, advisors, controller, parts and sales departments) to maintain a healthy work environment
- Support, communicate, and ensure the positive and constructive adoption of changes through individual and group meetings
- Operationalize activities with a focus on customer experience and ensure the sharing of company best practices
- Review work orders to ensure they meet required standards
REQUIREMENTS
- DEP in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics
- CPA card (a strong asset)
- Relevant experience as a foreman in a heavy truck or equipment dealership, or in the automotive industry
- Proactive, personable, with a positive and committed attitude
- Demonstrated managerial courage and team-building skills
- Well-organized with strong multitasking ability
- Proficiency in French (oral and written) / functional English
