CLIENT DESCRIPTION
In business for over 25 years, our client is a leading Quebec-based company in the heavy truck sector. They are positioned as the largest dealership network in Quebec, offering new and used vehicle sales, repair and maintenance services, as well as roadside assistance, bodywork, and financing solutions.
Currently undergoing a strategic transformation to support its rapid growth, our client is looking to recruit a Workshop Supervisor for the day shift at their Pointe-Claire branch. The individual will be responsible for providing leadership to their team and ensuring adherence to procedures and processes in daily operations at the Pointe-Claire branch. The chosen candidate will positively influence their team to meet the standards set by the Service Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Service Director, the Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing the workshop. They must ensure that repairs performed by certified mechanics are completed according to company and manufacturer procedures and policies. This role will provide positive leadership to mobilize and motivate the team. Key responsibilities include:
- Receiving requests from the technical advisor and distributing them to the appropriate technicians based on task type and skill.
- Maintaining high-quality repair service and minimizing workshop returns. Performing intermittent checks of work done to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Monitoring the progress of each repair throughout the shift and adherence to average times.
- Assisting with customer complaints in collaboration with their supervisor.
- Overseeing the condition of the workshop, including cleanliness, safety, and equipment condition, in collaboration with the controller.
- Ensuring daily communication with the evening foreman.
- Understanding warranty terms and manufacturer policies and ensuring compliance, then ensuring the team adheres to them.
- Managing a team of approximately 15 technicians (24 doors) and providing coaching and technical support.
- Handling disciplinary matters with the assistance of the Service Director.
- Ensuring that safety rules and manufacturer procedures are understood and followed by the technicians under their responsibility.
- Acting as a central reference (technician, advisor, controller, parts department, and sales) to ensure a healthy work environment.
- Endorsing, communicating, and ensuring adherence to changes in a positive and constructive manner through individual and group meetings.
- Operationalizing activities with a focus on customer experience and ensuring the transmission of best practices within the company.
REQUIREMENTS
- DEP in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics essential
- CPA card (serious asset)
- Relevant experience as a foreman within a heavy truck dealership or heavy equipment or automotive dealership.
- Proactivity, personable demeanor, a positive and committed attitude
- Demonstrated managerial courage and team-building skills
- Organizational skills and good multitasking endurance
