CLIENT DESCRIPTION

Our client is a company founded in 1982 in Laval, which specializes in the lumber industry, and more specifically in the manufacture of custom wood pelleting. It also offers oversized pallets as well as packaging solutions for different business sectors. All its products are designed to ensure the safety of goods during transport or storage, regardless of their destination in the world. It uses only high-quality materials from sustainable sources for all product lines.

In its context of rapid growth and following an acquisition, the company is currently looking to fill a position of Senior Accountant. This position reports directly to the President of the company and is based on the North Shore of Montreal.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In your role, you will manage the accounting department. In addition, you will be responsible for the following tickets:

GL

  • Ensure the accurate and complete maintenance of the general ledger
  • Verify accounting entries and financial transactions to ensure accuracy
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies
  • Supervise the activities of the billing clerk and accounts receivable
  • Ensure the accuracy of invoices issued and the follow-up of payments
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve customer account issues.

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

  • Manage supplier accounts and ensure payment deadlines are met
  • Check invoices, receipts and contracts to ensure compliance
  • Communicate with vendors to resolve billing or payment issues

PAYROLL

  • Prepare and process employee payroll, including regular employees and contract employees
  • Calculate deductions, benefits and payroll deductions
  • Ensure payroll deposits are made on time

FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

  • Compile the financial data necessary for the preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Analyze financial results and provide relevant feedback
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure consistency of financial information

COSTING

  • Determine the cost price of products sold using the appropriate methods
  • Analyze production costs and recommend optimization measures
  • Participate in the establishment of selling prices according to the cost price

CASH FLOW

  • Monitor and calculate business cash flow
  • Forecast cash requirements and recommend actions to maintain adequate cash
  • Analyze the discrepancies between cash forecasts and actual results

ACOMBA & SYSTEMS

  • Use Acomba software to perform various accounting and financial tasks
  • Master the advanced features of Acomba to optimize processes
  • Train and assist other team members in the use of Acomba
  • Ensure that IT tools & systems are up to company standards
  • Ensure the business stays ahead of technology

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Professional experience of at least 5-7 years as Principal Controller or Senior Accountant
  • Experience in personnel management, an important asset
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving aptitude
  • Very good knowledge of Acomba accounting software (an asset)
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Acomba (an asset)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good sense of LEADERSHIP
