SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Our client, a third-generation family-owned business located on Montreal’s South Shore, has built a strong reputation in 24/7 towing, specialized transportation, and industrial bodywork and painting. Backed by its expertise and state-of-the-art equipment, the company delivers safe, efficient, and tailored services to meet its clients’ needs.
As part of its sustained growth, the organization is looking to structure and strengthen its accounting practices by hiring a Senior Accountant. This role reports directly to the General Manager.
We are seeking an accounting professional who can take full ownership of financial activities, including financial reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and overseeing day-to-day accounting operations. The successful candidate will also play a key role in managing financial priorities and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
The ideal candidate stands out for their strong sense of accountability, rigour, and ownership, while being a collaborative and engaged team player. They bring solid accounting experience, demonstrate leadership, and are highly comfortable with the technological tools relevant to the role.
RESPONSABILITIES
- Manage the full accounting cycle, including month-end and year-end journal entries
- Prepare and analyze financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
- Ensure accuracy of accounting operations and maintain the general ledger
- Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable (invoicing, payments, reconciliations, and follow-ups)
- Prepare and reconcile Quebec sales taxes (GST/QST)
- Analyze financial variances, provide recommendations, and implement corrective actions
- Develop and monitor budgets as well as financial forecasts
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and intercompany transactions
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and the effectiveness of internal controls
- Participate in internal and external audits and prepare required documentation
- Supervise and support the team to ensure quality of deliverables
- Optimize accounting processes and recommend best practices
- Support senior management with financial analysis, operations, and special projects, and advise on financial decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field
- A recognized accounting designation (CPA) is considered an asset
- Experience in a multi-entity environment, including full ownership of intercompany transactions and consolidation processes
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of accounting experience, preferably with team management responsibilities
- Strong ability to navigate various IT systems, including ERP and CRM environments
- Intrapreneurial mindset with strong business acumen
- Excellent financial management skills, including budgeting, cash flow management, financial analysis, and reporting
- Strong communication and leadership abilities
- Solid understanding of local and international regulatory and tax requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with the ability to perform under pressure
ASSETS
- Bilingualism (English and French)
- Experience in a 24/7 environment or managing operational emergencies
- Strong knowledge of the Greater Montreal / South Shore territory
- Familiarity with Prextra, Nexera, Avantage, and Towsoft software
