DIRECTOR OF PARTNERSHIPS
CLIENT DESCRIPTION
Our client is a fast-growing NPO that aims to be the main promoter of the smart city concept. Working in collaboration with various levels of government, the organization’s main objective is to improve the quality of life and safety of citizens through the responsible use of data. It is the combination of its extensive network of external partners and research efforts that enables it to achieve its goals.
RESPONSABILITIES
Recognized as a leader in its field of expertise, the company now intends to take a new step in its development. In this context, our client is looking to hire a Director of Partnerships who will report to the General Manager. Holding a leadership role internally, this person will work closely with the management team to maintain and develop the organization’s business network. This role will include:
- Contribute to the development of the business strategy and targets
- Develop and write proposals in alignment with established business strategy as well as the organization’s vision and mission
- Collaborate with division managers and their teams to ensure feasibility of proposals
- Lead proposal budget development
- Seek funding opportunities that benefit the business strategy and contribute to the growth of the organization
- Negotiate funding agreements with various organizational partners such as government agencies, the private sector and NPOs
- Assess opportunities and develop strategies to attract philanthropic investment, at a local, regional, national, and international level
- Monitor trends and conduct market research based on the company’s business development goals, areas of expertise and research interests
- Respond to external enquires from various sectors and organizations
- Oversee process flow and contact management using the Customer Relationship Management tool (CRM)
- Monitor and report on the achievement of business development targets
- Lead business development planning meetings with strategic partners
- Communicate with the Board of Directors as require
REQUIREMENTS
- 5-7 years of experience in a commercial partnership or business development role
- Excellent proposal writing skills and demonstrable success applying for large grants ranging from 50K to 2M
- University degree in a relevant field (political science, public administration, or business)
- Perfectly bilingual in French and English (written and spoken)
- Ability to communicate effectively to various audiences including presentations to funders, partners, and public activities both verbally and in writing
- High level of emotional intelligence and efficient in building relationships with a broad ecosystem of stakeholders
- Ability to work independently, while demonstrating strong teamwork in a collaborative environment
- Comfortable working in a dynamic and complex environment, juggling multiple proposals simultaneously, while negotiating with tight deadline
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in community and social environments
- Knowledge of municipal data and technology issues
- Knowledge of open approaches (open data, open source, and open procurement)
